Every morning we have to press the power button on the MiFi unit or our computers can not connect. Same is true if we let the unit sit for a while. This is an annoying problem during the day since if we want to bring on a new computer we have to power cycle the unit and that knocks everyone else off. Looking at the logs in the MiFi we see an IP conflict. The Macs etc are expecting to get an IP address from the MiFi. When it fails the Mac says it has a self assigned IP address and can't connect to the Internet.
My limited network knowledge says it looks like the MiFi is trying to give out the same IP as it did the last time the Mac was connected and it is invalid. I wonder if the ARP tables are not getting cleared.
Once we power cycle the unit it works fine for the 2 Macs, WiFi printer and Ceiva Photo frame.
If you have worked with Verizon it take several calls to get someone to open a ticket. Now they think it is a problem with their tower in our area. I don't think this is the case. I think we need a network specialist to take a look at the MiFi Logs.
I am also trying the Sprint hotspot box and it will be interesting to see if that has the same problems.
