Our daughter called us on her Verizon cell from Charlottesville, VA today three times. Each time our caller ID showed a phone # in northwest California and Presidio Hotel as the source of the incoming call. What gives???
Do you have her number saved in your phone?
Do other numbers give you werid names as well?
This sounds like it may be a "spoofing" issue.
Spoofing is not caused by an error in the network or your Verizon Wireless phone. Rather spoofing usually happens when the calling party uses any one of a number of pay services (such as Spooftel, Spoofer, and Spoof Card), which provide a service that enables the calling party to change the message, sent as Caller ID.
I hope this information is helpful.
Thank you,
