I'm due for an upgrade soon, and im thinking about buying the thunderbolt when it comes out, but New hampshire doesnt have 4g coverage yet, will the phone still be usable if i bought it, or is it only for 4g?

All of Verizon's 4G phones are backward compatible for use on 3G. So yes the phone will function on 3G until 4G comes to your area.
