No text Message service

Expected to log on to account info but can't receive password because Xoom doesn't have text messaging! How utterly stupid! And to think I gave my IPad to my wife so i could get this thing. Fixes proposed are archane, nonsense work arounds. How could something so simple be bungled so amazingly? Frustrated and ready to through Verizon over the ledge just like I did ATT. No better!

You can register the Xoom online and the system will recognize that you can not receive text messages and will automatically mail out a letter with the temporary password.

It's not a phone. You should be able to open a Google Voice account and send and receive text using that.

actually it IS a phone, Verizon just will not sell you the service.

There already a multipage thread about how dumb this is. But to summarize- the galaxy tab can text because samsung included the app needed. The xoom can even text- check out the hack at xda. But google/mono/verizon didn't add testing back in the xoom. Add it tot the list of unfinished honeycomb issues.

Just call vzw and they will mail you out the password.

not so simple a solution. I was promised a password to be mailed to me. I waited 3 weeks. Went to store. was

promised a password would be mailed. waited another week. This is my first experience with Verizon customer

service. I am not impressed. I came very close to returning my xoom and getting a refund.

Too late for that. You only get 14 days to return it.
