How do I turn off "At the tone....." that follows my voice mail announcement, so that the caller hears my announcement, and then the tone.

You can shorten it (by eliminating some of the prompts), but within Verion's email system, you will get some of the recorded stuff regardless.

You can use a service like YouMail to have just your own greeting play before the tone. You Mail also has the capability to play your messages on your computer, and save them to a file, and some other cool features. Check it out!
