No more unlimited data plans? Really?!

All over the news today was the rumor Verizon was going to fall in line with other carriers and drop the $29.99 unlimited data for smart phones (iPhone, BlackBerry, Droid, etc.) Please, for the love of all that's holy, tell me this is wrong and NOT going to happen. I will be infurriated. Honestly, even after being with VZW for so long, I'll start looking at other carriers. DON'T DO THIS, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I heard somewhere that people whom already have the 29.99 will continue to get unlimited. The new people who get the internet plan will have not unlimited. Not sure if its true if this happens I'm gonna have to cancle and go to some per paid phone too much charges my bills already over 100 a month.

Reading the articles, it actually says this:

"It looks like the days of unlimited 3G data for new Verizon iPhone customers are numbered, with a Verizon Wireless exec confirming Tuesday that the carrier will soon drop its all-you-can-eat data plan for the iPhone—possibly around the time that the widely expected iPhone 5 hits the market.

... didn't give any details about a replacement for Verizon's unlimited data plan, and the Bloomberg story doesn't say anything (yet) about the fate of unlimited 3G plans for other smartphones offered by the carrier."

Realistically, look at the amount of data you use . . . for most, tiered plans may actually save you some $$'s, as you can control your data use and adjust the plan to your needs. For some, who want no restrictions and unlimited for the same or less than we pay now, yeah, tiered may not be a good thing. For me, and many others, it will work. You are never going to please everyone :smileysad:

I am going to wait and see what rolls out and evaluate my options. I will not threaten to leave Verizon, I will not cancel my current obligations (since nothing changes as long as I keep what I have now) and I will not get upset over rumors and speculation over what MIGHT happen months from now.
