I downloaded Ringtone from the Marketplace and downloaded ringtones. They show up as ringtones but I cannot get them to play when someone calls my phone. How do I get my ringtone I selected to play when I receive calls?
I wouldn't call you dumb, you just don't know your way around yet.
The best thing for new users to do is to play around. Go into all the apps, press menu and see what options you have. Press and hold areas on the screen within the apps and see what other choices you have.
I downloaded the app and a ringtone. Right after downloading a ringtone there is an option to set the song as a ringtone.
You are correct though, it does not show up as a song in the music app.
It places the mp3's in /sdcard/FreebeRings/mp3.
Download sdrescan from the market.
Then go to the music app, it should find it.

Everything I downloaded showed up in playlists and not songs. how do I get them in my songs? I long held the song I wanted as my ringtone and it still did use it as my ringtone
It doesn't make sense that they show in your playlist unless you added them to your play list.
Try menu - settings - sound - phone ringtone.
I did that. I have gone into everything simple to change it. I downloaded them from the Ringtone APP from the marketplace and it must have saved them from there into my playlist instead of songs.
