unable to listen to music on phone... help?

I have tried to download the driver for my phone (alias) and while I see it download, the verizon rep told me that once I do the setup, it should open a exe file in the same folder that I would then use. I download the file, reboot my computer and there is no folder. It does, however, create a driver 4.4 folder.

After I downloaded, rebooted and found the driver, I attempted to sync my phone, to no avail.

When I sync, i get this error message: "connect failure. Please check your cable connection to the pc."

So then the rep had this bright idea to use my micro sd card to put music on...

I explained to her that the music that I have is in itunes and rhapsody. I don't have a file with my music in it seperately, it is all in one bulk itunes file, so I can't seperate out single songs.

She said that I can't use itunes, so we tried to use rhapsody.

Following her instructions, I formatted the card, and then went into rhapsody and dragged/dropped the music into the card.

However in doing this, instead of it putting it in the my_music folder, it created it's own folder "music"
I put it in my phone, still nothing.

After spending 45 minutes on the phone with her ending up telling me that something is wrong with my computer because the exe file isn't there and "no one else is having these issues" she suggested that I use someone elses computer to download the driver to, otherwise I can buy the cd with the driver on it. HUH?

After leaving it alone for a few hours and going shopping (the ultimate calming effect...)

I ended up coming back to it, opening up the files on the card, and realizing that inside the music folder,there was a folder for EACH of the artists. Then inside each artist folder was ANOTHER folder that had the mp3 file inside. No wonder my phone couldn't find it!

All that said...my questions:

Is there a file within the driver folders that, after doing the setup and reboot, I'm supposed to find and start?

Could it be that the usb cord that I'm using isn't meant for this? I have a Kensington Samsung USB Power Tips. It connects my phone directly to the USB in my laptop.

I am running vista 32 and have the Samsung u740 (Alias)

I would really like to find a way to download my songs to my phone, so I can use the card in my husbands phone.

Sorry don't have a clue. But 1-800-922-0204 and transfer to tech support should help.

Let me provide some better advise than the 800 number.

First off you do not have to use Rhaposody. Your phone might have something called usb mass storage mode. I use to have that phone, but honestly can'y remember, but am going off of the fact that a lot of VZW phones have the same menu items. Anyway that can be found under settings and tools, then tools then mass storage.

Once that is done, you should be able to open My conputer on your PC and see the new drive. Now, here is the part that might not work b/c if the song you are transferingfrom Itunes. If your song is copywrighted, it might not work. Since you are using Itunes which i personally hate b/c it renames all your songs to literally random filenames making it impossible to use youractual music files, which you will need to literally just drop in that my music folder after going inot usb mass storage mode. That is all there is to it. If you can obtain the files would be much better and get them out of itunes.

GET RID OF ITUNES it is not helping you what so ever

Grim... I'm thinking you might have missed the part in my question where I mentioned that I spoke to a Verizon rep about the problem...I actually spent over 45 minutes there with her...

Carm... Unfortunately, my phone does not have a mass storage area in it, so that is not an option for me at all.

I realize you don't like itunes, but I actually do. It has not renamed any of my songs the way you mention you've had problems in the past, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.

I download most of my songs from certain websites, and put them directly into itunes, so a drag and drop from a file isn't possible.

Also, I'm not sure how much time you've spent in itunes, but there is a way to rename songs while you're inside itunes.

At any rate, I am still unable to transfer songs directly to my phone via the usb cable, which is my main problem.

I realize that my initial post was long, but I wanted to give enough information about my issue.

I was having the same issues with my new EnV3 and finally called customer support. As simple as this was, he suggested I try using a different USB port and it worked fine. Hope this will work for you too. Good luck!
