Switching phone numbers from LGvx5500 to a Droid X

Question

I have a LG vx5500 that i have service with. I also have a Droid X that i no longer use for the time being. I have 3 lines on my family share plan. What i would like to do is switch the LG's service to the droid x. I know that i'll have to get a data plan for the droid x again. I was just wondering if there was a way to switch the service of the LG phone to the Droid X phone. I've been up and down the VW website but couldn't find any answers. So i'm hoping that maybe here I can find some. I have a Thunderbolt, a droid x (active) and a LG vx5500 on my family plan....i want to switch the LG to a Droid X. Any help that can be given would be much appreciated. I was hoping to do it online and not have to go back into the store again.

I don't believe the previous reply answered the part about tranferring contacts over.  If you (the original poster) have a BackupAssistant account, make sure you sync your phone with BA which is online at the VZW site.  If not, create such an account at verizonwireless.com/backupassistant.

If you haven't ever, or lately, dial *228 and take option 2 to update your phone's "roaming capabilities" before trying to run BackupAssistant.

I believe that what you have backed up should be able to be downloaded to the Droid (disclaimer, I have no experience with any smartphone).
