Samsung Continuum problems with text visibility

I got the Samsung Coninuum yesterday afternoon and it's already causing problems. It has this bar underneath the screen called the Ticker and it displays the time, weather, and pops up a notification for facebook, emails, texts, and stuff like that. When I first started using it, I was getting text notifications fine but facebook was telling me I had no new notifications. Meanwhile, I go on facebook on my computer at the same time and I'll have five.

I went to a sweet 16 in a building with no service tonight and my phone died while I was there. I plugged it in to charge when I got home and all of a sudden I was getting facebook notifcations fine. I got excited until then I realized I wasn't getting texts. The Ticker was showing me I was getting a text and showed the first few words, but it didn't make the notification noise. I didn't think anything of it but then the locked screen wasn't telling me I had a new text which I thought was weird, but then I went to my messages. It said I had no new messages or anything, even the Ticker history didn't show the text it told me I recieved seconds earlier. I just got this phone and I really like it but I just don't understand the issues with notifications. Can someone help me?!

Thank you for your inquiry Iwisienski. Perhaps there was a time lag for a brief period of time when the notifications from Facebook was being updated because the device was saying you had notifications and when you used your computer you saw them as well. Also, as much as we try to provide indoor service, this is not guaranteed because something of which the structure is made of can hinder the signals getting to your device. Also as a suggestion, check your Social networking settings for having them properly configured to receive the notifications. I am providing the steps below as found on page 134 in the user Manuel that can be referenced online at the Verizon Wireless support page via this link. The website also offers other useful troubleshooting tips that can assist you further.

For checking the Social networking setting:

1. From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > Ticker settings> Social networking.

2. Touch a social network to configure updates> Facebook: Touch Receive all to receive all updates, or touch Message, Poke, Friends Request, Invitation or Comment.

That is not true. There is a problem with the ticker and I have not been able to find a solution. Worked for about one week and now I do not get news feeds or Facebook notifications. Just setup Twitter and I am not getting those notifications. Verizon needs to work on this ASAP. I like the phone but this was one of the features I wanted.

With the Continuum, there are two different places you can enter Facebook information for the ticker - there is a spot in the ticker settings and there is a spot in regular settings....settings>>accounts>>add new account>>ticker sync>>social network

Please make sure that you have the correct information in the ticker settings as well as in the regular settings (the steps above). Then, go back to the ticker and refresh. It should then start sending your notifications through for both Facebook and Twitter.

If you still have issues, please complete a soft reset by pulling the battery from the device while it is powered on. Then, wait 60 seconds or so. Once this time has elapsed, re-attach the battery and power on. Then, please monitor the notifications.

Hi- I'm having the same problem- the ticker shows an incoming text and I can see the first few words. Then when I go to the Messaging application, the text is nowhere to be found in any of the threads. I have noticed this several times in the last few weeks. At first, I thought it was a fluke. I have tried the soft restore several times by removing the battery, but the problem continues. Having to do a hard restore is something I don't want to deal with, as it has taken so long to download and organize things just the way I want them and there is no guarantee that the restore would even work. Is there any other way to fix this? Thank you for your help.
