Navigator vs GPS
tennissr
We are expermenting with Navigator and are wondering what others think of Navigator vs GPS (Garmen or Tom Tom). I just got a LG VX8360. Pro's and con's??? I'm kind of new at Navigating but think it would be nice to have. Thanks!

had vznav for a while it was great but but broke down and got a garmin nuvi 205w and like it much better. i figure the $180 we paid for it will pay for its self in the long run. no monthly fees just purchase updated maps from time to time. no regrets

Thank you for your response. We kind of felt that would be the case.

personally i prefer the vz navigator because of the versatility of it. one thing that i like about it alot is that you can change the vehicle types to be car/motorcycle, truck, bicycle or pedestrian so for example if you are walking/biking around a city and want to search or navigate to things and get directions to walk there you can. i am not sure but i do not think garmin has that feature plus you would need to carry the garmin with you everywhere. why do that you are carrying your cellphone with you anyway. besides that i also like the movie and events options and under the maps section you can see traffic alerts and weather for anywhere. it just really depends on what you would like.

I personally have had the Verizon Navigator and thought it was really good. However, as someone correctly stated . . . is it $10 bucks a month nice? After the initial novelty of it kind of wore off, the answer became clear to me and I canceled it. However, it's nice to know that you can re-activate it in a minute either monthly or just for a weekend if you're going on a trip or something. Now if I seriously used a GPS often I too would invest in a dedicated unit in order to gain a larger real-estate screen which can be really helpful.
