How to setup Verizon Router with Netbook to share internet connection with other devices?

I recently purchased from Verizon Wireless website a Gateway Netbook bundled with a free Verizon router (Westell 7501). The thing is that it didn't come with instructions on how to set up the router with the netbook to make other wifi capable devices share its internet connection.

I have called VZW tech support like three times and not a single rep can give me instructions on how to set it up. Even one rep said that VZW does not support wireless routers!!! what? Then how come it came free with my netbook?

I am very frustrated with this and I have wasted a lot of my 5GB data allowance for this month just trying to find info on how to do this.

Does anybody know anything about this? How do I set it up? I tried going on my netbook's control panel to setup a home network or a bridge connection but i must be doing something wrong because it doesnt work. If a rep or anybody read this and can send me instructions I will really appreciate it.

Gateway LT2016u Netbook

Verizon Wireless Router (Westell 7501)

Windos XP OS

And I wanna be able to share internet connection with other wifi capable devices at home.

Hi. I am sorry you are having issues connecting your router. I will be glad to give you the instructions and make sure it works for you.

To connect other Wireless devices to your wireless router, you will need to know your Verizon Router's network name (SSID) and Encryption key or pass phrase (WEP Key).

FYI: The SSID appears on the bottom of your Verizon Router. The label starts with SN and then the number. The Encryption key or pass phrase is an alphanumeric set of characters found on the bottom of your Verizon router. The label starts with "WEP" followed by the number.

Refer to the user manual of the device you are trying to connect. You will just need to go into the section that explains how you access the Wifi on the device.

When you do that, it will ask you for the SSID and the WEP pass phrase. Put that information in and continue.

Next, make sure the Wireless LED on the front of your Verizon Router is now solid or flashing green. This may take several sections. After that, you are connected.

My own computers are already working fine on Verizon wireless (with a Westell router). However, when friends visit, and wish to log onto the wireless system, it is 'locked' and needs a password. I don't know what it is! How can I find out and, if necessary, reset the thing to something I can remember?

When you installed the router, you probably established a password. If you can't remember what it is, you will have to do a factory reset of the router do the install again. Next time, write it down somewhere.
