Couple of questions for Stratosphere owners....

I own a Fascinate, but my husband just got a Stratosphere a few days ago. First off am I missing it or is there no wifi toggle switch on the phone? I couldn't find one so downloaded one from the market. Also the phone was charged last night and today as 4pm the battery was at 30%. He doesn't talk or text much he just uses internet and not even much time on the internet. My fascinate battery life was never that bad, but this is a 4g phone and maybe the battery drains trying to keep connected to 4G (?) Is the battery life that bad on your Stratosphere? Is there a way he can switch to 3g to improve battery life?

There should be a way to switch the phone to CDMA auto.

Try settings > wireless & networks > mobile network settings > network type > CDMA auto

You might have to adjust for slightly different titles of the settings options. That is the path in my Tbolt to change the network type.

you have to use the wall plug charger or a car charger. it won't charge if it is connected to the computer, even though it indicates that it is charging. probably what happened is that the phone falsely indicated it was 100% charged, when it actually was not.

Depends what he's doing on the internet...if he's watching youtube stuff or anything like that...it's not unreasonable that it would tear through battery power. Honestly, with what I've done with my Stratosphere I've been quite happy with the battery life so far. Besides, it's not that difficult to have a charger handy.

Yes, I'll have to agree on the poor battery life, in fact the poorest that I have seen on a smartphone that I've experienced to date. The battery runs down in search of a 4G signal. We tried to take the phone back to Best Buy and were told (very proudly I might add)-"Hey it's a 4g phone and that's to be expected. Get a charger and keep it with you. I have several and plug in where ever I can. I mean it's 4G!" (yada yada yada) The fact is my husband rarely used the internet, or texted or made voice calls in that time and the battery dropped like a rock, lasting less than 3/4 day with little or no use. He does have a charger, but the battery still sucked. Easily resolved though, he turns off mobile data unless he uses it, now battery life last at least 2 days. I couldn't understand why because since the gingerbread update on my Fascinate my battery lasts 2 days easy and I actually use my phone much more than he uses his. My daughter has a Charge, and it's 4G and she really uses internet and messaging and her battery will last 24 hrs. Makes me think twice before upgrading from 3 to 4G...

I agree! My update from 3g to 4g has been horrible.... my phone stopped working during the nationwide outage and never went back on..... they told me my stratosphere was defective and replaced it today, hopefully it continues to work good but im nervous..... i wish i would have stayed with 3g
