Why & how?
Why can I not set up my Cox.net email on my new Stratosphere? If it is possible, how is it done using the Stratosphere's operating system and not the K-9 app as done by the Verizon store techies? TIA

the server settings are different based on your location. for example, our outgoing is pop.west.cox.net.......but that is because we are in the western states. if you are using bear21's exact settings, and are in a different part of the country, they will not work.
my settings:
incoming:
protocol= POP
email address=your exact email address
username=your username (NOT your email address again. mine is simply my email address without the "@cox.net"
password=password
POP Server=pop.west.cox.net (this is where yours is based on where you live)
security type=none
server port=110
outgoing:
("login required" is checked)
username=username (again....this may not be and is likely not your email address)
password
smtp server=smtp.west.cox.net (again, this is location specific)
security type=SSL
server port=465
i do cox, pop3 without any 3rd party app.pop3 server, pop.west.cox.net, 995 secure & authenticatesmtp server, smtp.west.cox.net, 465 secure & authenticate.pop & smtp, user....don't use @cox.net

Does the POP3 setup allow you to leave received messages on the email server for reading on another computer, or does it automatically delete them from there?
Thanks
Thank you bearone21 for your help. I appreciate the time you take to help.
@redsnappa1,
Were you able to set up your cox.net email on your Stratosphere with the email server addressed provided by bearone21? If not, click here for instructions on how to add your personally email to your device.
Please post back if you need additional assistance and I'll be more than happy to help.

i have mine set up similar to bear21. i can leave a copy on the server. i get my email on my phone, work pc, and home pc. no messages are deleted from the server until i dlete them from my pc and then delete the "deleted" messages folder. (i'm a bit paranoid about losing emails....lol)
I have tried all of these steps as well as changing the user name to the actual email address and changing the POP address to pop.cox.net as referenced on Cox website. None of them work and I am still receiving the error message stating my user ID and/or password is invalid. I have confirmed with Cox that my user ID and Password is just fine. I am receiving emails to my desktop PC, so there isn't a Cox problem. I was able to add my other emails to the phone but my outgoing email is sent from Cox so I can receive incoming emails for those address, but I can't respond to them as the phone does not recognize my outgoing SMTP from Cox. Anyone out there having this same issue or have a resolution? This is a real deal breaker with me for this phone and only have 10 more days to return it if it isn't going to work for me.
The prompts listed in the above message are not Samsung Stratosphere prompts.
I just got the Samsung Strat and having same issues as well. downloading K9 mail as we speak. Argh.
I didn't read through all of the responses..but, I do use the K9 email client for my cox and gmail accounts. Issues with Cox opening attachments, etc., so find that I use my gmail more and more. Cox seems testy on either email app that I use; but primarily I use the K9 client for the sake of having all emails in one place, but also, and more importantly, for the select all and delete all features that K9 client offers. Stock email client on my phone doesn't have that option. Very happy with K9 client...which helps get around some of the quirky cox email situations.
