CD for Stratosphere

Just bought two Samsung Stratospheres at a COSTCO kiosk. Love the devices! BUT...Neither one came with the CD for setting up the computer linking. Didn't know it till we got home. Two days later, the guy there says they don't have the CD's anymore. So, how do I get one?

You should be able to download the update version of the software from the Samsung support site....

Unfortunately, all they seem to have is the user manual, not the software, for the Stratosphere.

i've heard that kiosks may not even be selling legit verizon equipment.

fwiw:
i plugged the usb, selected mass storage, drag/dropped entire pic folders & music folders without a need for an install cd.

you don't need to install anything to transfer files. you can use it just like an external device (hard drive, flash drive, etc)

Just a quick tip to save you a headache, make sure to use the Samsung micro usb cord that came with the phone, otherwise your computer might not reconize your phone. I sat in front of my computer for at least an hour trying to find a driver or software that would allow my computer to reconize my phone. It turned out that the problem was not a missing driver, but the micro usb cord I was using. The minute I switched to the micro usb cord that came with the phone, my computer reconized the phone instantly.

My Stratosphere didn't come with a usb cord, checked the packaging, not listed on contents. Will any usb cord work or is this another buying opportunity?

The USB cord IS the charger. You'll see the USB cable is plugged into the electrical end.

Try this:

Settings > USB settings > USB mode > Mass storage mode

Then plug it in. You should get a special new box asking if you'd like to 'install or run' a file called 'Run ToolLauncher-Bootstrap.exe' which has all your drivers and software. That should help.
