International texting

I've been thinking about coming back to Verizon for a while now. My problem has always been their inability to do true international texting. What I mean by that isn't texting while abroad, it's the ability to send and receive messages to my friends around the world (while I'm in the U.S.). I was under the impression it was a GSM (or lack thereof) issue - but I'm praying something may have changed. Verizon reps have never been very helpful on this subject since they never seem to understand what I'm talking about. Any news? Experience? Thanks a lot.

It is not a GSM vs CDMA issue, simply, many of the companies your friends are using for their providers do not have agreements with VZW and Vodafone.

They need agreements? I've never found a country AT&T or T-Mobile couldn't send or receive texts from...what makes them so special?

probably the better rep/fewer dropped call thingy & you can get an at&t or t-mobile phone & your problems are solved.

Od1, we would love to have you as part of the VZW family. As budone stated, there may be some international companies that we don't currently have agreements with, but we are always adding more companies. The lists include the majority of the major carriers in other countries. I would encourage you to review our international text messaging page, choose the country, and see what carriers we are able to send/receive text messages to/from.
