D2G Gingerbread Update - Touchscreen Issue

Hi all. Ever since the 4.3.3 update, there is a portion of my touchscreen about 1/4" wide that won't respond. With the phone upright it's on the right side, with the keyboard extended it's at the top.

It's driving me nuts, because I can't tap icons that appear there. When driving I can't use the notification menu because I can't pull it down. And I can't properly fill out webforms or navigate.

I've done the factory reset. No difference.

Does anyone have any info on what might be causing this?

I have had so many issues since the upgrade: my touchscreen doesnt work, my texts keep freezing, i cant hear calls or make calls and it is all intermittent, The only that temporarily helps is removing the battery. Tech support is no help, they told me to do a factory reset or they would send me another phone! I dont want another phone with the same problem!

Has anyone had any success at resolving this issue with the touchscreen (and other glitches) with this phone? I have the same problem ever since I took my D2G to a Verizon store for a totally unrelated problem and they "updagted" my D2G with the new software. Seems like if it is something they screwed up, then they should be a little more responsive to customer complaints. Clearly, by the number of posts alone on the internet about this problem, there is a real problem and not a user issue.

I just got off the phone with Verizon on the same issue. The did a factory reset and I am still having issues. The guy was totally rude. Kept telling me this isn't a "known issue" or Verizon would have issued a recall. My mom is having the exact same issue with her droid2. My phone was basically a brick for about a day until we forced the reset. It is "better" now but still totally glitchy. Seems like the reset was about as effective as removing the battery, works for a few minutes and then we're back to fighting the phone. The guy I was trying to work with told me my only other option is to upgrade my phone which means signing another contract. I don't really feel like throwing more money at bad customer service.

Same issue here the right side of my touchscreen is out of comission also. I went to verizon and my options were to buy a used phone,buy a new device at full price because I am not available for upgrade till October. Oh yeah my third option was use my old phone if i still had it. It seems to me that this is more than just individual user issues. It is pretty sad that there seems to be no one that actually is listening to these complaints. Where the hell has customer service gone in this country was that outsourced as well? Is there a way to take that BS "upgrade" off of my phone it was working fine before. Maybe I will "Netflix" Verizon as well when my contract is up. I never had any problems with them prior to this. I will file a complaint with them and see where that gets me. I was even willing to sign a new contract and was told i couldn't do that either. I have looked on the internet about this issue as well and it seems as if there are WAY MORE folks having the same EXACT problems with their Droid2 as well.

I had a similar problem about a month after the 2.3.4 update. The touchscreen was going insane opening up apps and dialing etc.. Resetting did nothing and the phone would even turn on on it's own. Brought it into the Verizon store and they gave me a free warranty refurb replacement. This has worked well so far, if the refurb phone is no good you need to call into the phone support and keep hounding them till they give you another model. May take at least one more refurb phone but if they don't work out of the box and they already admitted the phone was defective then they have no choice but to give you another phone.
