Does WiFi usurp Verizon Mobile Network?

Hi all,

If I connect to my home (or other) WiFi and also have the Mobile Network option selected in Settings, will the system default to using the Home WiFi automatically and then switch back to the Mobile Network when I am out of the Home WiFi range? It seems to be the case - just checking

I'm sure this has been asked and answered may times but I did not find it.

You are correct in your assessment. But there will be times where the phone will require the 3G service over the WiFi. It is rare but I have seen it occur. Usually with VZW specific updates

thanks - plus I saw that the WiFi name is displayed on my BBY home screen indicating what data provider is active.

I have an iPhone and still see Verizon at top even when in my home Wi-Fi. I checked usage and still see Verizon data usage even when I should be usingWi-Fi only. So your question is exactly what I posted separately, and the answer did not solve my issue. When and why would some 3G time also be consumed?

Some Verizon apps and updates HAVE to go over the 3G connection. For instance, if you access the MyVerizon app to view your account data, it will always go over the 3G connection because 3G is gaurenteed to have a certain level of security, and WiFi does not have that.
