Upgrading phone

So right now i have the unlimited data plan that verizon used to provide, not the 2gig cap. My contract ends in march 2012. if i upgrade or renew my contract would i still have the unlimited data and not the new 2gig data cap plan? right now i am eligible for an upgrade

As of now, yes, you will be grandfathered into unlimited data. Just after thanksgiving, I upgraded my wife's and my phone (separately, about a week apart), with me moving to LTE and her staying on a 3G plan. I did this online and, because we were upgrading, the unlimited plan was an option. Of course, you could always talk to a rep just to get it on record.

I am currently fighting with Verizon. I had an unlimited plan that was grandfathered in from Alltel. I recently upgraded my cell phone but used the upgrade from my WIFI. I was told I could do this. I specifically asked if this would affect my plan and was told no. The next thing I know I am getting texts telling me I am almost over in my usage. I called Verizon and they tell me I now only have 5. To try and get back my unlimited plan which was should not have been changed. I had to file some sort of dispute. This is crazy!!! Why would I do anything to affect my unlimited plan. If I do not get it back I will switch my service. I pay a lot of money now what would happen if I have to pay for data.

So be careful if you upgrade they will take your unlimited plan away and not even tell you.They say since we are upgrading and they do not sell the unlimited service anymore they can not give it to you.

Has anyone else had this problem?

so best option would be to actually talk to a verizon Representative and ask them. if they say yes i would have a proof of it because the phone conversation would be recorded correct?

as long as you upgrade to another smartphone, you're grandfathered with unlimited.

but would i be only grandfathered in if i upgrade before my contract ends which is in march or get a new contract in march.

No, as long as you do not cancel your data plan, you'll be fine. We were out of contract for almost 4 months before upgrading.
