Cannot connect on the internet on my new Droid Bionic

Just bought a droid bionic.  Live in the area with only 3G network.  Am able to connect the droid to my home wifi.   Switch the connectivity to CDMA only.  I can see full bars on my home screen, but I still cannot connect to the internet.  Is it my device?   Please help.  I am a newbie on smart phones.   Thank you.

Congrats on buying the new Motorola Droid Bionic! I am a proud owner of this device and it is a joy to use! May I ask what city and state are you in? Also, are you able to browse the web and use data services with the wifi turned off in the settings menu? Below are some troubleshooting steps on how to resolve this issue.

• Turn bluetooth and wifi off in the settings menu.
• Do a battery and SIM card pull then re-insert and retry the web access.
• Verify how many bars of signal and what type of signal indicator that you are getting. (4G, 3G, 1x)
• Check to confirm that the device has the latest software version.
• Ensure that data roaming is activated in settings.
• Perform factory reset on the device. (please see link below)

As always, I encourage to have all personal information backed up prior to performing a factory reset. Backup Assistant is an excellent app to archive your contacts. Contacts and calendar entries can also be saved on you Gmail account. Once the reset has been completed, there is a brief tutorial on how to activate and setup the device. Once your have completed the tutorial, please test call voice and data services. If you are still having issues then please respond to this posting for additional assistance.
