Samsung Droid Charge Locks up

My Droid Charge locks up constantly. Sometimes it will come back if I wait 30 or more seconds. If it doesn't I have to either take out the battery and put it back in or hold the power button down for about 15 seconds. It just stops, I could be doing anything, dialing a number, playing a game, looking thru the contacts. It does not matter. Any insight into a resolution would be appreciated.

Hi there! I'm sorry about the lock up concerns you're experiencing. Have you been able to resolve this yet? I would like to recommend booting the phone in safe mode. Run it for a day or so to see if you continue to have issues with the above issues. Safe mode will determine if this is an issue related to applications on the device. The last resort step would be a hard reset in order to remove defective applications.

Please advise your results from these steps. Thank you!

Mine would lock up ten times a day. But I havent had a lockup for about 3 days. I noticed my problem when charging then unplugging charger causing lockup. Everytime I pulled my phone off the dock it would lock up. Also my screen would start jumping from dock to home screen constantly, while it was in the dock. I went into settings and noticed in my apps under developement I had usb debugging checked so I unchecked it. Havent had a lockup since.

PS. Doesnt mean that the phone doesnt lag anymore though. LOL

Try this to see if it is a BAD battery. Plug your phone into the charger. Then when the battery is FULLY charged keep the phone plugged into the charger and take some flash pictures or just use your phone to see if it still locks up. NOTE: keep it connected to the charger.

Please let us know your results.

I said in my reply unchecking usb debugging in settings>apps.>developement fixed my lockup or freeze up problems. I just put that out there for a possible resolution.

PS. I sure hear alot about this bad battery test alot lately, I had an extended battery for my charge that was bad and it didnt cause a lock up problem on mine. It just went dead every 2 hours.

Did you find an answer to this? My Charge does the same thing. It's happened for pretty much since I got the phone. I did turn off the syncing of google contacts and it improved significantly, but I notice that it is worse again after some automatic updates that seem to have been pushed through.

This is just posted as an "item of interest," neither a cause nor a solution to anything.

As you know with USB Debugging checked it allows an APP to get into your phones internal programming. I wonder, but do not know, if by having the USB Debugging checked one of you APPs was getting into the operating system/programs area and causing some odd problems. Then when you unchecked the USB Debugging that same APP performed what it was supposed to do instead of locking up your phone..

On my phone I found that when USB Debugging is checked it is easier and quicker to see my files/folders when using the USB cable to connect to my laptop...weird!

My USB Debugging is usually checked all the time because I use a program called DataPilot 7 (cost $15) to back up my contacts on my own laptop and that program requires that USB Debugging is checked when backing up your contacts and I usually forget to

UN-check it.

I use DataPilot 7 because twice Verizon's backup moved all my old contacts back to my phone's contact list and, furthermore, it is very complicated to backup to BOTH the Verizon Backup and the Google Backup. BTW, for me Google's backup was much easier so now I am backed up to Google, my own laptop, and my laptop's external back up disk. Probably over kill but better safe than sorry!
