droid x .602 update

Thanks for nothing Verizon I am coming today to cancel my service. I just updated to the .602 gingerbread and all the issues I had before are still there it fixed nothing now I just got one more piece of Verizon bloat and now I am receiving over the air ads?

I am very angry an dissatisfied right now and this is not good business at all.

What piece of bloat do you think is displaying ads on your phone? Also, where are the ads appearing?

Most of the "free" apps in the Android Market are supported by advertising revenues, so that the developers get some type of compensation for their work. There are even some apps that will place ads in your notification bar (although you can change this in that app's preferences most of the time.)

I've never seen a piece of Verizon bloat display ads anywhere other than IN the application (which seems fair to me). Are you sure the ads aren't coming from another application you recently installed? Have you researched your issues with your phone to determine if they are ALSO caused by applications that you installed?

Most people's issues with Android can be resolved by removing one or more of the apps they don't use (or can replace with a well-coded alternative) on their phone.

if you had issues before 602, it wasn't necessarily going to fix them all.

Thanks to the community members for your input. Yanou, a software update provided to a device is not necessarily bloatware as it was provided by the manufacture under their discretion. However, have you checked your phone as suggested for free Aps? Sometimes installed Aps could cause device issues. Regarding the ads, they are generally included with free Aps. When choosing a free App, permissions are granted by the user and need to be accepted prior to download. It is wise to read those terms prior to downloading to show what permissions are being agreed to in allowing the free App. This fact is true throughout the App market world. It is not based upon any service provider as its a user's free choice. However, if there is something I can address for you, please send me a private message. I would like to provide you with some options to resolve your concerns.

Actually the bloatware is what VZW sticks us with (Madden, Blockbuster, etc) I choose not to use them, but it would be nice if VZW actually let me remove them....they might not take up space, but they are worthless to have on the phone if people don't choose to use them
