I've had the Verizon Network Extender (NE) for about a week. I started noticing that when on the NE our two Verizon smart phones were reporting the wrong GPS location, about 20 miles away for the correct location. Turn of the NE and the phones report the correct location.
I read all the various forum postings on this issue and gathered that this is a known bug in the NE that will not be fixed. The information conflicted on whether the problem was Verizon's, Samsung's, or Google's fault. But they all said this was a known issue that Verizon is aware of and would not be fixed. Your phone is basically reporting the location of the Verizon server that is handling the VoIP traffic from the NE.
For Verizon tech support, what about E911 calls? I know that the NE has its own GPS antenna that is only for E911 data. If my phone currently says it is 20 miles away from my house and I call 911, is my phone now going to report the correct location to the E911 call center?
thanks
