Text messaging issues with Droid 3

I have been having a texting issue with my droid 3, and i really don't want a replacment, so i am hoping someone here can help me!!! It's with text messages, and not all text messages just to some people, and it's different with all of them. When I text my mother she gets a message that has a space in between every letter, it would look something like this:

H o w a r e y o u t o d a y ?

and when i text a friend all she gets are all symbols:

@I@@£@Å¡7@f£ ì @d@@£@å¡6@B£ì @ò @c@è¥ Å@2@f£@$ @n@¥@è @u@8¥¡Å¡4@X£@$ ß@o@T¥@ @P¥

and then with another friend every time i message her she just gets a blank message....

I have tried turning phone on and off, i have tried taking out battery for an extended time, and i have tried clearing the cache. When I text my husband he gets the message just fine...

I love my phone, except my main form of communication is through text messages and this is really driving me crazy....

Please help so that I love my phone again!!!

Hello joshuamommie!

I know this is getting frustrating, but don't let it drive you crazy! I am here to assist.

I actually found a couple of users experiencing the same issue, and we were able to come up with a fix. It appears this is happening when using the "..." key on the keyboard when texting. Avoid using this key in text messages until we can provide a permanent fix. This should eliminate the blank, spaced and garbled message issue.

awww....... i love that ... key, because i do the ... in almost all my conversations!!! VERIZON, GET ON THE BALL AND FIX IT PLEASE!!!!!

really? that's all that i have to do is not use the ... key???? how crazy! Hope this really does solve my problems - although I'd rather the phone just worked properly!

OK...... Telling me not to use a key on the keyboard is not a "FIX". When will we have a fix and thank god it wasn't an alpha key (i.e., "E") that we can't use

Your response to the texting problem w/Droid 3 is not altogether correct. I have been experiencing the same exact problem (recipient receiving blank texts, or weird characters instead of letters, etc.) and I NEVER use the "..." symbol. I went back and forth w/Verizon for over 3 weeks and they could not solve my problem, and furthermore I was informed they had not had this issue w/the Droid 3 and other customers.

Has Verizon fixed this yet?????

Are you using the native text messaging app or one that you downloaded from the market? Keep in mind that Verizon does not make phones. In your case, Motorola made your phone. Any software releases are initially developed by Google, who supports Android, and Motorola, who supports your phone. Verizon is third in line to have any say in the development of the software patches. Additionally, you will know when it has been 'fixed' when your phone downloads an update. Pretty nice huh? It automatically installs to your phone once it's released!

I just started having texting issues on my Droid 3 too! First it was no MMS was being sent or received, I filed a ticket and they have NO IDEA, NEVER HEARD of such a problem. I LOVE< LOVE> LOVE my Droid3 and now tonight all the sudden I am unable to send ANY texts!

I am on my 3rd Droid3 due to OS/cycling and it is clear that they aren't going to acknowledge a problem so I just deal with it because I must have a physical keyboard!

I've been having this problem with my phone pretty much since I got it last September (2011). I LOVE my phone & at first thought that it was because I was sending message to "non-smart phones". I use the texting that came on the phone (not anything downloaded or anything). It doesn't matter what carrier the person has, if the message is short or long or if I use any certain symbols. It's like the phone has a mind of its own and sends gobbity-gook (ie: random symbols, just small little boxes, etc) or a blank text. It's becoming VERY frustrating and like ginger99967 said I LOVE my Droid 3.

If/When they find a solution for this we will just be notified via an "update" message phone then?

I emailed the Verizon President of my region and worked out a solution on my phone. I got tired of getting the run around with support etc.
