Samsung Stratosphere - will only connect to the web through Wifi, not data.

If I have wifi turned off, I can't use my browser or any apps that require an internet connection. I don't get 4G where I am right now, but i do get 3G and can text and call just fine, I just can't connect to the internet with my data. I've gone through all the settings and everything seems right - what am I missing? Has anyone had this issue before?

I had the same problem with the phone that you are experiencing. I had to remove the battery to reset the phone after verifing that I turned the WIFI selections off and the Mobile Data selection on. It worked after that. It isn't suppose to have that problem and when mine keep doing it and I kept having to remove the battery to reset they swamped the phone for me - I haven't had the problem again with the new one.

I've tried doing a soft reset as you described (taking the battery and card out) and it doesn't help. I've scoured through my settings, and I know I have it enabled. My data usage widget is stuck at "connecting" and I can't access anything that requires the internet (Even though I can call and text). Nothing has helped so far, so I'm going to have to call customer service. I want to avoid doing a hard reset if I can, but if they can't suggest anything else for me, I suppose I'll have to give it a try.
I was so excited to get a new phone, and now I'm thinking I'm going to have to get it replaced. This is so annoying :smileysad:

I actually just got off the phone with customer service. I don't know what they did on their end, but it's working (for now). :smileyhappy:

I have been having the same problems that all of you have mentioned. I upgraded to a smart phone thinking that I could learn how to use it. I have had to have my kids and my friends show me how to use it but even they dont understand why it wont connect. With WIFI everything is fine but 3G only works sometimes. I live in the Antelope Valley and have had Verizon for 16 years and never had a problem with any of my phones till now. I was in Hollywood on 12-30-11 and the 4G did work well but this phone is acting stupid again. I went to ask the guy at Verizon in the mall and he said he could not help me. I dont want to call customer service if I dont have to. Hopefully they will realize there is a problem and look into it asap.
