Razr Gorilla Glass

Hi, I just purchased the Razr yesterday and the salesman at the VZW store sold me the screen protectors. I was under the understanding that the gorilla glass is scratch proof and I asked him that. He said it will scratch. Did I get sold something that is not needed just too make a sale?

I think my Tbolt has gorilla glass and I still put a screen protector on. It is more of a matter of preference to me.

To answer both your questions, yes. The Razr has a gorilla glass screen, and the guy was just trying to make a sale. They make a bundle with the case, charger, and screen protectors. I think they get paid comission so you cant blame him for trying. That screen is pretty much indestructible. I've seen people hit them with knives and forks and nothing. One of the selling points of the phone.

I would'nt say indestructible if it's droped just right it can shatter it. Scratch proof there's factores there as well but Gorilla is way better than what we had a few years Back. That Said on my Droid X an my Incredible neather one has a So what you call a protective screen. They tried to do the you need it thing when i bought my X last year i told them to file an keep it. :smileywink: B33

Don't mistake scratch resistant for scratch proof. Gorilla glass, while supposedly more durable than other fortified glass, can indeed get scratched. Better safe than sorry imo.

I've seen that Happen PJNC284 matter of fact my sister in-law's Dinc. has a nice scratch along the Top left corner i ask how it got the Boo Boo an she said Natural Causes.... :smileywink: I did'nt say no more an left it that...

It does scratch. remember that its scratch "resistant" just like its water "resistant" not proof. I do not have a screen protector on my bionic. I think they are annoying. I am risking scratches but bleh... I like my skin to feel the screen. More responsive. Im not rough on my phones so I havent scratched it. I have seen a razr with slight scratches. Maybe its a cheap investment. I dont need it.

My Eris also (apparently) had Gorilla Glass (according to the link B33 provided) but it had tiny scratches all over it. Granted, I do work in construction and end up with dirt in my pocket all the time and none of the scratches made the phone unusable. I had tried a couple different screen protectors, but I didn't like them and they all ended coming up in the corners. For the hell I put that phone through, it was actually in very good condition. Not risking it with my Rezound, though. I got the Otterbox Defender Series case that has a built in screen protector which is much nicer, because it is part of the case, it feels like part of the phone.

I agree with Roadie. Mine broke after falling from pocket height (about 2 1/2 feet). Gorilla Glass is over rated. This was also the first phone I had that broke from a normal everyday wear and tear fall.

Have had the RAZR for since January when I had my horrible Nexus replaced. It has fallen from chest high, waist high and desk high several times and no so much as a scratch. I even kicked it once on accident when it fell. I do have a cover on it, but it is a snap on, no rubber an no protector on the glass. Guess I have just been lucky.

My first smart phone was a blackberry tour and I hated it. I upgraded to a Droid X and fell in love with it. Last December wanted ICS and upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus, which was a horrible experience and Verizon offered to replace with the Droid RAZR. I am sooooo happy with the switch. While ICS is pretty cool, don't do you much good on a phone that don't work. Every Motorola phone I have owended just feels made better, heavier, better materials. That is just my experience. I love the RAZR and am sooo happy with it.
