Just heard the news that an update was released. Tried to install it and after it reboots I get IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED error.
Anyone having this problem? Any fix ideas? I bought the phone pretty much the week it came out.
Forgot to mention, I tried both wiping my SD card clean and doing a factory reset....still won't let me update with the same error.
I've tried to update it too with the same error, I've read on other blogs that people are having the same problem some have rooted their phones and removed some of the bloatware thinking that might be preventing them from updating but that doesn't seem to be the issue because other people have not rooted their phones and get the same error. I spoke to a VZW rep yesterday and they said it was a Casio update, so it seems like it's an issue with the update itself. Can a VZW rep. please find out what the problem is?
Mine is doing the same thing. They even had me do the dreaded factory reset. Still not working.
I was successfully able to download the update, it did fail once if I remember correctly, but after that all was smooth. There were actually two updates that came back to back. I received one checked a day later and had another. No significant changes, fixed, flaws with flash light, added google books, changed look of communications selection bar, noticed some different appearances in the phone book at different times, nothing else that I've noticed yet.
HOWEVER STILL NO PUSH TO TALK.......
I was on the phone for a bit while they looked into it. My support dude was supposed to contact Casio and call me back with any info. He said if they didn't have much for him I would just get a replacement phone. I will wait until tonight for his call, but I may be just getting a new updated phone.

If you remove the battery for a few seconds & try to reinstall the update, do you get the same error?
I have tried several times from several different locations in several different situations - all with the same result...
The file downloads, the phone reboots into recovery & begins to unpack. It gets about 25% into the unpack and then pauses, says update failed and then reboots. When it reboots the update notification screen comes back up and shows:
IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED
Even yesterday the update was pushed to my phone - it downloaded automatically - and the end result was the same. There was a post on a different forum that it you had manipulated the build.prop file it would cause the error. I haven't manipulated the file, so that's not it either.
EDIT: Tried the battery pull suggestion and the result was the same...

Still the same issue here. I can successfully download the update and the phone reboots. The update starts, gets approximately 25-30% through, based on the status bar, then displays "Update Failed". The phone reboots and the display reads:
Software updated
by Verizon Wireless
UPDATE_FAILED or INCOMPLETE. reason:
IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED
Software updates automatically and the mobile
will power down and up as part of this special offering
This is the same result I've had since the update first tried to push. No change based on rebooting, powering down, or removing the battery. I've tried update easily a dozen times with no change. I have not performed a factory reset as I've seen this same problem discussed on multiple forums without a clear resolution.
I'm not particularly concerned about getting this update per se, but know eventually I will need the ability to receive updates for this phone.

Why is it when I go to system updates, check new, I get nothing?
If you can avoid the update DO SO!!! I can not stress this enough. I did mine last week. Today I sent a text at lunch, ate lunch then went to send another text and *POOF* all my contacts are completely gone. I have backup assistant so I go to it and see I have contacts backed up properly in it so I sync up and *POOF* again, after sync ZERO contacts. Like they never existed. This exact thing happend to my coworker this past weekend. Same phone. The last two updates have been horrible! My ability to make calls diminished greatly with poor reception and the system locked up constantly as well as losing shortcuts on my desktop but more over IVE LOST my contacts.
I called Tech Support and they had me wipe my phone which in turn deleted all my texts that I could have possibly recovered some caontacts from. Then sync again and no joy in mudville folks. So then I synced with google, only email contacts popped up. She told me to delete those and resync. Now Ive lost those as well. Tech Support can see my backup assistant has the data still stored on it but I just cant retrieve it. Their solution has me getting a "like new" replacement or switching to a "comparable phone" they selected. The Droid X2, Moto Droid 3 or the Incredible 2. NONE of which suit my needs. STAY AWAY FROM THE UPDATE!!!! ITS THE DEVIL.
