I am assuming not. I set my alarm to wake me up for 3:00 AM EST this morning thinking I was going to be able to preorder the 4S AND be able to bill it to my account. No soap. They want a credit/debit card.

are you the primary line?
was it at vzw?
when they do allow it it depends on the account, any late payments, time you have been with them ect
I am the primary line, but I transferred an upgrade from a family member, although that shouldn't matter. I was still forced down the path of using a credit card. And I ordered through Verizon as Apple's site was down at start time for pre-orders. Doesn't matter much to me either way, but would have been nice to have the option.

Yes, I am the primary. In fact, I called Verizon Wireless today and asked the customer service agent if my account qualified for BTA. They said it did, so I asked what my BTA limit was. They said there is no limit for my account and that I could only use BTA for one phone. I find that hard to believe there is no limit but that's what they said.
aahhh, whenever i have done it it was buy 1 get 1 free, so it was technically 2 phones
When they released the iPhone 4 in Feb you could NOT bill to account as you might have been able to when ordering a phone that was already available. Assuming they followed the same tradition, you won't have that option during pre-order and perhaps for some time after.
Well I hope the BTA option is available on the 14th, because that's when I plan to try again...

It might not be, but you can call Verizon on the 14th and see if they will let you bill to account if you purchase in store or order over the phone if the option still isn't available online. It wasn't available immediately when the 4 dropped in Feb...even after it was available to everyone.
I called VZW today and first the customer service person told me she was going away from her headset for a second, 3 minutes later she comes back, "bta is available since you're ordering over the phone." So I got thru to a sales rep, he said "it's not available since we're using a different system then the normal phones for ordering the 4S, if I find a way to do it I'll email you and let you know." I know I won't get any email and I didnt think it would be available but I figured I'd call and see if it is. I also chatted with an online rep who said it is available and then when I tried again, again it wasn't so I'm thinking it's not just like for the 4 it's not. If not, I'll just have to wait until the 14th which is fine.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I hope most of you have been able to complete your pre-orders successfully. The pre-order is only available online and is not eligible to bill to account. As long as your account is eligible to bill equipment to the account (based on payment history, at least six months with VZW), you will be able to once the phone is launched on 10/14.
Well the iPhone 4S is officially available to purchase now on Verizon's site, but it's still sending me to the preorder site without the option to BTA...
I just spoke to a verizon rep who said that until the back order is brought up to date you will not be able to do a BTA
i waited in line for an hour only to be told that there is NO bill to account for the iphone .... as per apple.
can't speak for anyone else but that was MY experience

Was the VZW store you went to a corporate store? I remember reading somewhere that corporate stores have more power to do this type of thing than the regular ones.
Has anyone else been able to bill to their account for this phone from the store yet? I will have to try if you can. BUt I have a feeling it wont be allowed.
I beg to differ. you must have walked out with the iphone 4 not the 4s because right now it is impossible to bill to the account when they are still in such a high demand
I think initally, some people were able to get lucky and use b2a in-store before the stores were told that were not to allow b2a. A few people claimed to have been able to do so on these forums. So one of two things likely occurred...what I suggested (stores allowing it before knowing that they couldn't) or...you would have to assume that the users that claimed they got the 4s by using b2a were lying. Since there is no real way (or point) to discredit those users the thing that needs to be focused on now is what the rule appears to be now. Regardless of what anyone was able to do in the beginning the rule now appears to be that you can NOT use b2a. Those that really need to use this should continue to check periodically for when the option will be available. Ultimately it might just be quicker to come up with the money and pay for it (I've never b2a so I don't know how much time you have to pay off the device, but if you're expected to pay it off on your next billing statement in full then I personally don't get the uproar over not being able to delay paying the money a few weeks. If you get to stretch it out over several months as you could with a CC then I guess I get it) but if you're in no hurry then wait it out.
gerio wrote:Well, this is my last comment on this subject since the notion of customers lying about getting iPhones on B2A has come up. Yeah, a 53-year-old guy really gets a big thrill out of lying on a user-driven forum. Fair enough.I don't know who you people are dealing with. I got 2 iPhone 4Ss on B2A (one of them at full price, which I'm neither proud of nor happy about, but so be it). I'm getting another one as a gift in two weeks. Because of this discussion, I called my Verizon guy and checked on getting this third one on B2A. No problem, I was told. What the hell, go ahead and get it on the way, I said.Done.The rest of you are on yer own.Geri O
Maybe what I posted was misunderstood...I was not implying that anyone was lying...I was saying that based on people arguing if it was or wasn't possible to use b2a and some saying they have indeed been able to do so would mean that SOME people are trying to imply those that have claimed to be able to do so are lying. It is why I immediately followed up with saying that there is no way to actually discredit anyone that says they have been able to use b2a (ie, no one can say whether anyone on the internet is lying). Now, do people lie? Of course. It happens all of the time. And yes, even a 53 year old guy could do it because they get a thrill out of it (insert equal sarcasm). The point is and remains the same...for those that are being told that they can not use b2a and/or the iPhone is currently not eligible for it despite how many VZW reps they speak to in-store or over the phone will either need to come up with some other payment method to get the phone or wait until they are able to use b2a. If you're consistently successful at being able to use b2a even now then you're obviously luckier than any of the people that have been trying to do it and not having any success. Since you did mention that you called your Verizon guy you might want to help others out by perhaps sending business to your Verizon guy since for whatever reason he is able to make what no one else seems to be able or willing to do at VZW for those that really want to use this method. Of course, you're not obligated to help anyone out but it would be something I'm sure those interested in b2a would truly appreciate.
Either way, it's great that you get to use this method but it's really not worth getting upset over (or appearing to get upset) just because a reference to possible lying is mentioned. You know your truth and at the end of the day that's all that matters.
The ability to B2A with some/all phones may also have to do with your employee discount agreement if you have one. Some agreements may stipulate that B2A IS available on ALL phones.
Since it was brought up, I'll ask, and apologize if I asked before and forgot the answer. If you use bill-to-account, is the entire amount due on your next billing statement, or is it broken up over several billing periods?
Thanks Ann, that's what I thought. For a minute there, I was wondering if it was like T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Program, but I see that it isn't.
In order to bill to the account, you must have service for atleast 6 months, good pay history and no disconnects in the last 6 months.
Your limit is $400
ICONIC ORDERS --- CREDIT CARD ONLY
Anytime a new phone comes out and its an ICONIC DEVICE, then payment is required by credit card, until the device is no longer considered ICONIC. This is usually your iPhones, Note II, Pre-Orders, Droid DNA, High end phones
Once its no longer ICONIC then you can bill it to the account
