Can't seem to get data to work in England

I'm coping OK, but I pre-paid a data plan and was expecting to hope to use it in a pinch. I updated the roaming capabilities like I was told to in the store, but now I'm here it appears all I can do is send and receive texts. Haven't been able to connect to any wifi hotspots either. I have Droid Incrdible 2. Any suggestions?

This team can call you on a different phone, troubleshoot your issue and provide you with a resolution.

Are you turning on the wifi radio and then selecting an available network and connecting to it?

I had a little bit more luck today in being able to connect to a completely open (no password, no security) network, and it did update my location I could check my email on the phone, but still no luck in getting data anywhere else.
