Droid X2 won't charge and shows a question mark...

I just bought my droid X2 yesterday and took it out of the box to charge today. I plugged it in to charge by computer and the screen shows a battery with a question mark on it. I'm guessing it is not charging at all because I've left it for over 4 hours and it still does not turn on. I have tried the whole remove & replacing of battery and card. No go...

Is there a way to reset it to work or charge?

Or would I have to replace the phone completely...

Please help. Thank you.

I hope I can provide some insight into this concern.

Typically when this occurs on an Android device it means the battery contacts on the phone are impaired in some way. Check the four copper contacts on the phone for debris, and press them down 3 or 4 times, replace the battery in to the phone and power on. Once fully powered on, tried to charge again to ensure it's working.

You didn't say, so I have to ask...

Have you attempted yo charge the phone with the 120V AC charger (that plugs into an AC outlet) that came with the phone? The USB port of a computer

Dang it. Stubby finger...

The USB port of the computer isn't enough to sufficiently charge the battery of the newer smarphones. Try that for several hours first, if you haven't already.

Yes. I have tried charging it via AC outlet. I left it overnight to see if that might be the problem. But still shows the question marked battery on the screen. Is there anything else I can try, or would it be best to take the phone in for repair or ask for a replacement.

Darn.

Probably time to take it in and let the store folks check it out. It might be a bad battery, but if you just got the phone, they should just swap the phone out for you.

Hope the next one does better...

I assume you also Took the battery out for like a minute or 2, and reinserted & tried again from a wall outlet, right?
