Droid touchscreen going crazy.

Recently the touchscreen on my droid has started acting up. It goes crazy selecting things at random usually around the bottom right part of the screen. This has happened before usually when water or moisture has come in contact with the screen, I also have tried a factory reset which did nothing. ATM my phone is unusable as every time I try to start a call it turns the speakerphone on and off over and over again to the point no one can hear what I am trying to say. I no longer have warranty on this phone please help!

I would also like to add that the phone has not come in contact with any kind of moisture this time.

My wife's Droid did the same thing (twice) and, while not a for sure thing, I think it had something to do with the connections below the Dpad on the keyboard. Fortunately for us, we had the extended warranty through Asurion the first time and were due for an upgrade the second time. Unfortunately for you, I never figured out for sure what the issue was, though I can tell you it isn't software related, I did battery pulls, factory reset, all the usual "troubleshooting" options that Verizon recommends and it didn't help and, if I remember correctly, I had the first one rooted with custom firmware on it when it happened. Sounds like it might be time for a new phone my friend.

I had the very same problem that you are experiencing. Took the phone to an authorized Verizon store and they wanted to do a hard reset. I told them fine if I would not lose all of my contacts (asked them 4 times)and sparky says they are all backed up with Google. Of course he resets my phone and all of my contacts are now lost and the phone is exactly the same.

So now the phone gets worse and Verizon pushes me hard to upgrade my phone, but all I want is an insurance replacement. More bad news - Verizon "accidentally" canceled my insurance when they were adjusting my bill for text messaging. So after another call to CS, they see their mistake and offer to reinstate the insurance if I will pay the back charges, so along with the $99 deductable, I am on the hook for another $65. So I head back to the Verizon store today and tell them I will pay the insurance and the deductable and I need a phone. The problem is this is a business phone and I need something today, even if I have to rent a loaner until the insurance phone comes in. No loaner phones available and more bad news, to reinstate the insurance will take another week to process the paperwork, but guess what? They will upgrade me to another phone.

But after the crappy service, the lost contacts and the constant upselling of Verizon, I am done with them. All I want to do is get a phone that will get me out of the contract with these people and move on to a company that either has decent customer service, or just go with a crappy cut rate phone service since I am getting no customer service any ways.

So a customer over hears my predicament and tells me of a cell phone repair shop down the street. Turns out the touch screen was bad in the phone and for $90 and one hour of my time I am back in business. Hopefully this fix will last me 6 more months until I can send Verizon packing. Whike Verizon would have ripped me for 30 more months of super high priced service with crappy customer service, plus another $200 of $300 for a phone, I am rolling out of there for less than $100.
