Finding all ringtones on Samsung Stratosphere

I've had a Samsung Stratosphere nearly a month, and I have a question about ringtones. Specifically, some apps seem to have access to certain ringtones while others do not. For instance, "Transparent piano" appears as a ringtone in Home > Settings > Sound settings for Notification but not for Phone. I can maybe understand that, as some tones might seem more appropriate for a phone ring than others. But when I go to set an alarm using the Clock app, the possible Alarm tones (under Sounds) are more like the list of Phone tones than the Notification tones. I like "Transparent piano," and I'd like to have it available as an Alarm tone.

Why can't I see the whole list of ringtones? And where might these ringtone files be located on the phone, so that I might, say, create a more accessible folder for my own selection of favorites?

The file are located in a area that is not accessable because security wont allow access.... The reason why you do not see the same alerts in every menu because you have a ringtone, notification and alert storage area and those item only show under the group that they are sorted for...

Extract and drop on SD Card root keeping directory intact but if you want the "Transparent piano" as a ringer move the file to the ringtone folder because it is in the notification folder now...

Excellent! I thought they were probably in some inaccessible system area. Thanks so much for the files. I'll now be able to manage things more to my liking. (Not a control freak, not me!)

RINGBACK TONES: I have a Stratosphere. I went shopping on VZW media store for a ringback tone. The song I wanted is NOT available as a RBT, but it is available as both a RT and an MP3. Is it possible to download a song (a song that's NOT available on the ring back tone menu) and then turn that MP3 file INTO a ringback tone????

I dont see this as being possible because if I understand how ringback tones works (Never used it myself), the ringer is stored on the network not on the device and if this is the case you can not upload the file to use it.

You are able to use your own ringtones for the phone by putting them in a file accessable by the app My Files. Choose the ringtone you want and hit the menu key. You'll see Set as in the popup.

I cannot figure out how to set my own music for txt or email notifications though.

I use a free app called Zedge, Tons of ringtones and notification tones. Some funny some musical, and, be forewarned, some not work safe or in public safe for that matter, But you can tell pretty much by the titles. Try it out, you might find something you like.

Still don't see an answer to the question I ask on a different thread i guess. I have the ringtones I want in a folder in My Files.

I don't see how to set any of them for notifications for email and txt.

I found the path for using my own ringtones for telephone calls but see no options for selecting them for email and txt/pic.

You need to create a folder on your SD card called "notifications" without the quotes and copy the files into that notifications folder. The phone can then populate those files into the notification tone list. Then open the email or text app and change the notification tone for that app in the settings. If you are looking for individual contact notifications tones for email or text, then you need the assistance of a third-party application from the Android Market.
