4 GB for the price of 2 GB special offer

I recently upgraded to my first smartphone in December at Best Buy. I chose the Samsung Stratosphere. (and I love it!) At that time Best Buy was offering a special where I got 4GB of data for $29.99.a month, which is normally the price for 2GB. I think the salesperson at Best Buy said that I would continue to get this special pricing until I upgrade next time. Does anyone know if that's right? Or, will I continue to get 4GB for that price even after upgrading in 2 years? By the way....4GB is way more data than I thought it would be. I barely used 1GB last month.

The 4 GB for the price of 2GB was a limited time offer and is no longer available as of January 15, 2012. You can keep it on your account for as long as you don't change it. It is a good deal at $30 per month even if you don't always use it all in a month. Your usage can change each month especially when you find more things you can do with the data network. This month might have been 1 GB, but next month might be 3 GB. If you had been on the 2 GB plan and went over there would be an overage charge.

Isn't it just like the people who were grandfathered in at unlimited? If you change your plan, you lose it? I just wanted to clarify your post, it makes it sound like it would go by-by once this person changed their phone.

It should be grandfathered in much like the unlimited plan is. I can't promise it since it will almost 20 months before someone with that plan will be eligible for an upgrade.

Thank you for your reply. And I agree that 4Gb for $30 a month is a great deal. I really like having that much data at an affordable price, even if I don't use it all every month. That's why I was wondering if I'm going to lose that pricing in 20 months. I don't intend to change my plan, so I hope that I will be able to keep that price if I simply upgrade to a new phone. I hope I'm grandfathered in like NuDroidUsrr mentions. I guess I will find out then : )

If you have the Double Data plan, you can grandfather it over if you get an upgrade, as long as you get another smart phone. You don't lose it unless you switch your phone to a feature phone.
