Does anybody know how to move email messages to folders? Just bought this phone and all it shows is inbox and trash.
I need to create folders for my email.
If you are using Google mail, or gmail, there are no folders per se. Gmail uses labels to keep track of your email and you can assign multiple labels to one message.
In the Gmail app, go to Menu, Go to labels and you can see all the labels you have. If you want to apply a label to a message, while reading the message, select Menu and Change Label. Or, while viewing messages in list view, check the message and then press Labels.
I don't know of a way to create new labels from the Android Gmail app. I believe you must be logged into your Gmail account on the web to have that functionality. See this link for more info.
If you're not using Gmail, then let us know what program you are using and maybe someone who is using it can help.
What email service? I don't know of a way to add Folders from the Phone UI but you can do so from the web site for Google, Yahoo etc...then set the phone to sync and show those folders.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have a Gmail account and will try your advice.
Again I'm a new-be at this and a former iPhone user.
Thank you for your prompt reply as well. As you can tell from my reply to SallyC. I have an Gmail account and try your advice as well. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope to get this figured out.
Again thank you smashogre for you reply.Cool name....
Tido
You're very welcome. GMail uses something called "Labels" so when you go to www.gmail.com and sign in, look in the upper right corner for the little gear symbol/icon, click that and then mail settings. When Mail Settings loads, look for the 'Labels' Tab.
Thanks!Smash (the) Ogre is a charector from a series of books by Piers Anthony. Xanth is the series name. Pretty good stuff.
Thank you for your advice it worked I'd also checked YouTube as well.
This is great thank you both for helping this old kid....
Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks.
You're welcome, Antonio. I moved from an iDevice to the Razr but before that moved from Outlook to Gmail. I'd used Outlook forever and couldn't imagine using Gmail or Google Calendar instead but now I can't imagine going back!
Not sure if you're new to Gmail or just the Razr, but if you need help with Gmail, there's some great help here on Getting Started. Or feel free to ask!
Woof woof! :smileyhappy:
SallyC I'd be interested in your "take" on the differences between the iDevice and Razr...I manage a large infrastructure for a medical practice. We have 22 docs, mostly using iPhones but some using Droids of one flavor or another.
What's been your greatest challenge in the change-over?
What do you feel is glaringly lacking in either device?
Probably shouldn't have hijacked Antonio's thread should I? :smileyhappy:
