My list of Droid Charge issues

I see there are few (quite a few, actually) issues with the Charge.

Here is my list:

Screen Freezes

"Network Not Available" even with full bars showing

Have had complaints of going directly to voice mail

when expanding a written screen, it bounces to the side and I cannot read it and I have to minimize the view page to read it

Not receiving emails, and I have to constantly refresh the email.

screen freeaes and then goes black

not receiving texts on some occasions.

These are just the ones that I know that happen frequently. I end up having to remove the battery to reset. With a home-based business, this is not acceptable. I have been to Verizon quite a few times and they have played with it, with no answers or help.

As soon as I am able, I am getting a different phone. I never had this problem with my Blackberry (there were other issues with that one). I love Verizon, so I will stikc with them...had them for well over 10 years now.

Try this, it's a "Teeny Tiny" bit more than a battery pull but well worth trying.

Remove battery, SD Card, and SIM card. Leave them out of the phone for 10 minutes. Then re-install SIM Card, SD card, and then the battery.

Now...after the phone reboots, Immediately do two more reboots BEFORE using the phone.

All we're doing here is trying to get rid of unwanted baggage that may be in your phone WITHOUT a draconian Factory Reset.

could just be a signal outage in your area - and probably your voice signal, not data.

I know a quick fix for your voice mail issue is to port your voice messaging to Google Voice. it's free, easy, and you get free visual voice mail. the downside is that you must have a data connection when retrieving your google voice mail. but callers should not be immediately sent to voice mail.

The excessive restarting of the phone will do nothing to resolve the issue. These are issues with the Charge in general because it is a piece of junk phone and neither Verizon or Samsung will do anything to fix it. They will not replace it with any other phone besides another crappy Charge that someone else used at some point and had the same issues. If you're in need of a different phone you really have to sell it to them during a customer service call.

completely false. they have issued several attempts to fix problems - and each of them have been successful. first there was the upgrade to Gingerbread - which helped dramatically improve battery life and performance, and there was the radio update to FP1 which helped established a better 4G connection. I have not heard of anyone wishing they want to go back to Froyo or EP4D. furthermore, when folks claimed that their batteries were garbage, VZW sent them new ones the next day. I have also heard of folks getting different devices too - but as you said, you will need to sell them during a customer service call.

don't get me wrong, I'm not a VZW lover, just stating the facts. a phone is only going to be as good as the user makes it. for each device, there are folks that love them, and there are folks that hate them - even iPhones. so before getting a smartphone, establish your expectations first.

Sure FP1 is much better for keeping a weak 4G connection rather than flipping back and forth with 3G. However, I personally would opt to return to EP4. After taking the FP1 update my hotspot performance is terrible when tethering to iOS devices. At best I'm now getting .5 mbs on iOS devices while the phone is getting 10-12 mbs. Quite sad really. I wont go into my samsung / apple conspiracy theory. I've had two Charge phones and one even was sent to Samsung service center. My buddy that has an eclipse rom loaded on the charge doesn't have these problems. I'm now looking for another device. FP1 is one step forward and two steps back.

I had similar problems. I can be sitting directly in front of my wireless router and still be unable to get a reasonable wifi signal (and the speed has slowed to a crawl). As has my 3G. Since I don't get 4G in my area, their "fix" for those that actually get to take advantage of 4G actually screwed over everyone else that doesn't have it.

If you bought the year insurance supposedly they are to replace your phone with a new one NOT a refurb. At least that is what I was told!
