Droid Pro does not recognize sim card

All of a sudden today my Droid Pro, which I have had less than a year is not recognizing the sim card.  It is up to date on software.  I can still receive text messages as well as phone calls.  One other thing it has started to do at the same exact time, is that my text message will freeze and I will have to force close or turn off my phone and restart.  I can't get through a whole text.  Is anyone else having this problem? I've had way too many problems with the Droid Pro and Verizon never seems to take care of it, so hopefully someone here can help me out.

I would like to assist you.  Have you attempted to remove the sim and re-insert it?  Has the sim been replaced before?  Please let me know so I know what steps have been attempted.  To address the text messaging concern I have a few questions as well.  Have you cleared the keyboard cache and data under Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Keyboard?  Have you ever complete a factory reset?  Please advise.  I would also like to provide a suggestion.  Navigate to the Google Play Store (formerly known as Android Market) and search for Gingerbread Keyboard and download it.  Once downloaded go to Settings>Language and Keyboard and enable the Gingerbread Keyboard and exit the settings.  Enter the text message application and long press on an empty text field and choose the Gingerbread input method and test.  Please respond with your results and the answers to the questions above.  Thank you.
