Droid Bionic won't let me access SD card storage

I've had my Bionic since September, and as I added apps started occasionally getting error messages re: memory being short. It was annoying but I pretty much ignored it because it wasn't a critical problem for me. Now I am trying to use Spotify Premium, and I can't save offline playlists because the phone won't let me access the SD card. According to the Storage menu on settings, I have 14GB unused memory ont he SD card, and the 8 GB main memory is maxed out. But every app I have used, including OI File Manager, can't get files moved to the SD. Suggestions?

Are you able to see both the /sdcard ("MOT") and the /sdcard-ext (can be several names) from Windows Explorer (In Vista/7, click on the start button > computer ... in XP it's the same but "my computer")

8GB is a lot of data; what exactly do you have in there that's taking up so much room?

Music. I sync to my iTunes with Dooubletwist.

DT should be able to see media files on /sdcard-ext ... are you using a Mac or PC?

PC. It syncs just fine; I tried to use the app itself to switch file locations (it describes it as experimental) but no change.
