Sound isn't working properly

Having an odd issue with my iPhone 4S. The sound is messed up.

Through the speaker, I only get sound from the ringer and alarm, nothing else - no sound from lock/unlock, alerts, key clicks, nothing from apps, nothing from playing music. However, all sound works fine when going through the headphone jack.

I've tried doing a restore through iTunes, but ended up with the same problem.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Are calls fine? I had the opposite problem when I talked to someone I couldn't hear anyone without speaker so apple went inside and moved something working properly now. They said it could happen again. I think u might need to go to an apple store so they go inside of it. It's something u didn't do but can be fixed.

Have u gone into sound settings? Are u blocking the speaker when using ur phone.

Yeah, calls are fine, both normal and through speakerphone. And I've checked every setting in every menu, literally.

Sadly, I don't have the luxury of going to an Apple Store - the closest one is several hundred miles away. :smileysad:

I know know what u mean I am about 45 miles away in each direction. Have u at least called then to see what they can say so vzw can replace it.

I have the same issue with my sound sporadically not working. When I plug my ear buds in and take them out it starts working again. This is an ok workaround except for when I use it for an alarm clock and don't know it is deciding not to work then.
