My mom is 1000 miles away and I'm hoping someone can give me a clue
She's had a pantech breakout for about 60 days. Today she checked it and saw that the screen said "android development" and the word fastboot with some exclamation marks.
She took it to her local verizon store. The opened the phone, said it looks like it has water damage and told her pay 100 for a refurbished or buy a new phone cash. No help, or troubleshooting. I'm assuming there is a sticker under the battery for moisture. Mom said she has never dropped or wet the phone.
I've searched the forums and it seems this phone might have been trying to download an update, crashed in the middle and bricked. Mom only uses it for phone calls and occasional text. No apps or internet use. no idea why the rep at the store suggested this phone to her 2 months ago.
Any ideas? I can't find any reports of a wet phone behaving this way and she had me on the store phone while she spoke with the manager of the store and it sounded very short and rude. I'm going to just move her onto my contract shortly, but the situation is aggravating.
