Currently have a blackberry, want to switch to HTC One X

Hi there, so i currently own the blackberry 9930 from Verizon. However i wish to switch to using an HTC One X that i will acquire in another country that will be an international unlocked version.

Does verizon allow this switch to take place? The phone is a CDMA/GSM phone.

Verizon does offer some "global phones," as they call them: http://businessportals.verizonwireless.com/international/Global_Phone/index.html. The selection is extremely limited, though, as you may have found. 3 of the 7 models are Blackberries, which you're trying to move away from. There's an iPhone, an HTC Trophy (Windows Phone 7), a Casio G'zOne Ravine 2, and a Pantech Jest. Not an Android device among them.

Now if you're just going outside the US for a short time and need a GSM-capable phone, they'll give you a loaner for free (calling and data plans extra!), and they do have some Android offerings (http://businessportals.verizonwireless.com/international/Global_Travel/index.html). It's not a bad deal, but also not a solution for a frequent international traveler.

Frankly, IMO Verizon's greatest shortcoming is in the area of international interoperability.
