Probably have a bad case of Operator Error which is usual for me! How do you download Outlook Contact File from your PC to your Motorola Droid 3 ?
Can you import the contact file into your Gmail account? From there it will sync with the phone.
Have not tried to do it through Gmail Account but will certainly give it a go. Thank you so much for your suggestion

Hi: I urge you to try MyPhoneExplorer app, available free at Google Play. It's not auto-sync like Google, but it allows you to keep contacts and calendar private on your PC instead of turning over yet more personal info to Google. I use and adore it! Very easy sync via wifi. (USB also available.) Sync Outlook contacts and calendar, move pictures either way, copy files (music, whatever) and more. Absolutely great!
