Android Text Messaging Quirks

I have had 3 Android phones and have experienced the same issue on all over the last couple of years.  First being that the phone selects a different recipient than I have selected.  I have learned to keep messages in my thread because I sometimes catch that the phone has substituted someone different than I have selected by viewing the previous message in the thread.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the person the phone selects.  many times they are people that are way dowm on my list which is why I am certain I have not tapped on the wrong person inadvertently.

The second issue is that frequently while I am in the middle of typing a text message, the typing area will disappear and I will be looking at the very top of the thread for the person I am trying to type a message to.  I then have to scroll all the way back down to the bottom of the thread to continue typing. When there are several hundred messages for that person this is a real nuisance.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and if so, is there a fix on the horizon?

Your first issue was a fairly common issue for Android phones, but just about any phone out now SHOULD have had that fixed.  I'm pretty sure the fix was introduced with GingerBread, and even incorporated into some of the older builds.  This can also be circumvented by using a third party messaging app from the market.

For your second issue, the only thing I can think of is that you may be inadvertently hitting the back button while typing.  My wife had a similar issue since moving to the Incredible 2 where she wasn't reaching quite far enough across the screen and was hitting the period instead of the space bar.  She told me about the issue, so I watched for a while when she was in a texting frenzy (easier said than done, man she types fast on that thing) and noticed that she was actually hitting the period key.
