Switching from 3g to 4g lte. Any charges?

Hello, i am currently using a lg vortex with a family plan with unlimited data. If i transfer my number to a htc thunderbolt, are there any charges from switching from a 3g to 4g lte? I checked my upgrade availability from my phone and it says i wont be able to upgrade til 3/1/13. Is there any difference between switching numbers to a different phone or to upgrade?

Looks like you have about one more year before you can upgrade. You can upgrade now, however, you will have to pay full price for whatever phone you wish to get. Is the HTC Thunderbolt 4g capable? I don't believe it is, but I may be wrong. If it is only 3g capable, than you will not get the faster downloads of the 4g. Personally, I would wait. Who knows, in this crazy world of technology, something better may come along to tickle your desires.

The Thunderbolt is a 4G phone, it was the first one on Verizon. There shouldn't be any additional charges for going from 3G to 4G on the unlimited data plan as that's what I did some 14 months ago. Verizon wants to get people off of the 3G system and on to the 4G system so you should be good to go but call them to confirm.
