Droid R2D2

I have had my R2D2 for about a year and a half now. I have had no issues with it really. I don't use it alot. I am not a crazy texter.... just to keep in contact my kids or husband to see where they are at. Sometimes I may make a post on FB. I use the QWRTY keyboard to do this. All of a sudden the keyboard is not working and the phone will force a shut down of whatever program I am using. Now it starting doing the same thing to the touchpad keyboard. What the heck is going on?

Any ideas for me? Thanks. K

First question that comes to mind: have you downloaded a new apps lately? Second question, have you upgraded any apps recently? If you answer "No" to both questions, than the only thing I can think of is a file going crazy. Try downloading a third party keyboard apps, there are plenty to choose from, and see what happens. Don't you just love it when an old friend goes bezerk on you?

My R2D2 is also on the fritz right now, and this has only just started happening since the latest Android update. Immediately following the download of the update (which was not optional - I was getting push notifications every hour to download the latest update) my touch screen started acting finicky. It comes and goes - occasionally I'll tap to open a program or something, and nothing happens. Or it scrolls through the menu in a bizarre direction. It either doesn't recognize that I'm touching it at all, or it reacts to touches that I'm not actually making. Locking and unlocking my phone seems to fix the problem momentarily. I NEVER had these problems until I downloaded the latest software update, and now they happen every single day. Restarting the phone does nothing to fix it either.

Again, it probably is a rogue apps which is causing havoc. Try going into safe mode and see if all these errors are still occuring. If not, than you know for sure that it's a rogue apps. Unfortunately, I do not know how to get into safe mode (never needed it). However, there are several threads in the Forum that tell you how. Just search for "Safe Mode."
