No wireless service coverage in Leeds/Birmingham Alabama

I am at home and just received a voice mail alert only to discover that my phone says that there is no service available. I took out the battery and did a reboot, then I switched to cdma only, turned the phone off and on again, and I still have no service. Any ideas on the problem or is this a tower outage?

Just got a chance to talk to verizon wireless tech. support and they said that the outage was due to some scheduled maintenance to a cell tower that apparently was started prematurely. They said it was originally sceduled for tonight. They were unable to provide a time frame for when it would be operational again.

5 of us at work in Downtown Birmingham have same issue. No service at all.

My wife and I are in Leeds, she's got a Blackberry and I have an Android.

I did the same thing after a couple of hours, -took out the battery and rebooted.

Neither of us is getting a mobile signal. Can't text, can't make/receive calls.
