Does anyone know what Join mean under contacts?

Just wondering if anyone knows what join means under contacts, also if the phone should have double contacts names when you go to send a text message? For example when I go to send message there will be 2 contacts sowing with the same name, but the number are showing differently...I do have 2 different numbers under the contact. I had this phone since the end of December and already had to have it reset becausing of Low memory error message, which should not be coming up as I don't have any where enough apps on it. Also keep getting forceclose when I Facebook, or other internet sites. And another issue, I have set ringtones for each contact and sometimes their ringtone does not ring when they are calling me.

WRT joining contacts, from the Samsung Stratosphere manual (accessible at http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/stratosphere/stratosphere.pdf; should be the same thing on other devices, I think):

"Your phone can synchronize with multiple accounts, including Google, Corporate Exchange, and other providers, plus social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. When you synchronize contacts from these accounts with your phone, you may have multiple contacts for one person.

Joining imported contact records to a phone contact allows you to see all the contact’s numbers and addresses together in one Contact record. Joining also helps you keep your contacts updated, because any changes that your contacts make to their information in the respective accounts is automatically updated the next time you synchronize with the account."

First, it would be helpful to nkow what device you are using.

The contacts appear indiviually, for EACH number, so yes if a contact has 5 numbers listed it will show up 5 times which allows you to slect which number you are messaging. At least that is how it works on my device..

As far as your ringtone question, what DOES happen when your contacts are calling and you are not gettign the specified ringtone?

Sorry I have a Pantech Breakout and as far as the ringtone when others without assigned the default ringtone will ring.

Ok thanks, I understand as far as the Joining I would guess that it's joining from facebook, but what I'm not sure of is when I go into my contacts it only shows the one contact that I had entered with the info that I had placed into it, the thing that I'm not sure of is when I go to message when I'm sending a message out to someone there is more then one space for each individual contact that has a cell, number and another number. At one time there was 3 showing for a contact that only had one number. Also do u know anything about the forceclose and the ringtones?

leerod, are you saying you are getting a forceclose error when you access ringtones?

If not, when are you getting a forceclose error message and what other issue are you having with ringtones?

Otherwise, put your phone in safe mode. Once in safe mode, do you get the force close error message?

Force close basically means there is a application on the device that is corrupt, therefore you can remove the defective app from the phone in order to prevent the message from appearing on your screen.

Please reply back to let me know if you are getting the force close when accessing ringtones and whether or not the error shows up while in safe mode.
