purchasing a phone

I am contemplating purchasing an android phone online. I hesitate because the seller is not known to me. The phone is a decent price but not underpriced. It is a Verizon samsung smart phone. I have a serial number which the seller gave for verification. Where can i look up the serial number to verify the phone is not stolen or otherwise? thank you

It stated the phone ESN # was good. I had to call Verizon after all b/c the change of plans (basic to smart)

So I got a great deal on a great phone. The BEST part? I'm not in a contract for two years if I had purchases the same phone from Verizon. (my contract expires in 6 weeks)

If in doubt before purchasing a phone off Ebay, Craigslist or a friend, get that number and check it out first!

I'm awaiting delivery of a new sim card.

I know that this post has been answered already but also want to point out that there are third party ESN checkers online that do work in my experience. Google them. In any case, the best bet is to just call VZW and they will do it for you without any problems. Always verify the ESN before you pay!!!

yeah, I'd call Verizon with the MEID or ESN to make sure it is clear. That certified device link just makes sure it's a Verizon-approved phone but doesn't verify that it isn't blacklisted or already activated.
