I have no service in gainesville fl. what is going on and when will this be fixed??????

Your service provider in that area is the only one that can answer you. Towers may be out, central control may be out. Who knows? Only they know. I would get on a land line and give them a call.
This really sucks. All service went out some time after 12:30pm today here in Gainesville, FL and it's killing my business.
Sounds like your area Verizon has run into a problem. Try giving them a call using a landline or another server's system, such as someone who has AT&T.
This sucks! I thought it was just my phone or I forgot to pay the bill or something. I only have my cell phone so I can't call them. Does anyone know what is going on? Is a tower down?
A friend just said they have something like 60 towers down in our area and it's affecting more than Verizon service, Sprint and Boost as well.. It stinks!
Also in Gainesville -- haven't had service on my Verizon Blackberry since around noon -- like others, thought it was my phone -- was going to stop by the Verizon Store -- saw it was packed with cars and people sitting inside waiting and figured it was not just my phone -- must be an outage. Anyone else have information??
I went to the verizon store on archer road, a lot of people did, and they had no information on it at all. I say it maybe a cyber attack, some teen hacker has just fraked us all.
