there will be a daily 25 cent book(I believe for the next week or two)

To Get the New Version go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications Then select Downloaded or All then clear your Cache Your Data then Un install the Market Then Close by Hitting the Home Button. Then you can power the phone off if you want to or just go back into the Market an accept the Terms an it should show up. There is also a new Icon for google Play it is a white shopping bag Play store on it. Check it out Looks Cool. From B33
I seem to be able to access the new thingy just fine from the Market app that I have. How would I go back into the Market after I uninstalled it?
I hate it, it makes no sense (Play?) and, IMO, will only serve to confuse users. With that said, I'm off to Play some music, Play a game, and... Play?... a book?
That does sound a little goofy when you put it that way, demmo86rt.
The biggest issue I have now is with the icon for the store. It sits lower in the 1x1 grid space then the other applications on my Thunderbolt. It ruins the balance of that row of applications on the homescreen. It isn't quite so noticeable on the Galaxy Nexus.
I understand the reasoning behind the name change (trying to unify Google products across platforms) but the name itself makes no sense to me.
I agree the name doesn't make sense to me either.
My, how observant, Ann! :smileyhappy: I see that on my Stratosphere too. I think it's the almost-invisible handle at the top of the shopping bag. The eye hardly notices it, and homes in on the top line of the bag, which, because of the handle, has to be noticeably lower than the top lines of other rectangular icons, giving the appearance of the whole icon being lower.
So, I got the Market update yesterday and, strangely, the homescreen shortcut didn't disappear (like some have been reporting) and the label still says Market (hooray! ), but in my app drawer, it does say Play Store. I don't mind the new icon so much, I'm just glad I don't have to see "Play Store" every time I scroll to that page.
Yeah, I also still had the Market icon and label briefly. Till I tapped it and it said the app was not installed. Then it was just delete the shortcut and put a new one on the home page from the app drawer.
The icon position for the Play Store seems to have fixed itself over the weekend on my Tbolt. Much better!
i guess i should visit the market more often. i came across this thread and checked my phone and sure enough, i have google play (new icon and all). i have no idea how long it's been on my phone? lol
