market app erased from phone

As i was using my phone tonight i was trying to download gingerbread and google voice search so i can use voice to text on my casio commando. I went to search for another app and read review, my market app on my home screen vanished. Thinking it was a big i deal i searched the list of apps in my menu and it seems to have vanished. Try a last option i look in the setting under managing apps and it has also vanished from there as well. Anyone else having these issues? is there a fix?

There has been a New update for the Market it is 3.4.6 an you won't see the market icon any longer as it has changed to Play Store. It's how ever the same Market but with some changes. When you touch the apps Icon it will take you to your apps an in there should be Play Store Icon. B33

ok i see that now on my phone but it is saying playstore is not downloaded on my phone, its in my list of apps however i cannot open it

Just had a similar experience (prepared for by B33 here: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/769658). Saw this thread, found that Market app shortcut icon was still on my phone. Tapped it and got the Google Play TOS screen, accepted and was in Google Play. Which looks remarkably like the Android Market. Back to my Home screen, tapped Market again, and was informed it was not installed. Deleted the shortcut, went to Applications, found the Google Play icon added there, and put a shortcut on the home screen. Altogether a simple process, but a complete waste of time from my point of view, and one that Google did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prepare users for. Why not send us a text to let us know it's coming? How hard could that possibly have been?

It was said in an article that getting or finding the Icon for the Market was a little more difficult for the Razr or Maxx i found mine it took a little Doing but no biggie. an it looks good on both of my Droids. B33
